During my 2018-2019 high school career, I directed, produced, and edited a short documentary about Hurricane Harvey and how it impacted my city. I decided to submit it for the Cynthia Woods Mitchel Pavilion Scholarship in which I had to go through and interview process and explain my production about this short documentary entitled Harvey. I was selected candidate for this scholarship where I was able to pursue an academic field in film production at the University of Texas at Dallas.

Short Documentary
This short film taught me to express my self in many ways. Not only was my community impacted by this catastrophe, but also my family. My aunt lost everything she ever had and that's the reason why I made this short documentary, to show that life always has its ups and downs but we are still here together as a family.

Our society has seen the impacts of inequality and mistrust between the government and the U.S. citizens. Especially those people of color, the prejudiced system that is the United States has proven to be weak against social reform movements throughout history and now more than ever, we must come together to create a solution to build a new society.
